DAY 15: TAKE ME BACK TO TULSA

Jerry quipped "Maybe we are going to walk to Dublin."
Turned out we just had to walk out to the plane on the tarmac.

We felt fairly fresh boarding the plane for our first leg from Edinburgh to Dublin, even though it left nearly an hour behind schedule.
We could see all three of the bridges across the Firth of Forth from the plane.

Inchcolm Island was also visible through the fog over the Firth of Forth
Goodbye, beautiful Scotland!

Hello Dublin!
All signage in airports and train stations in Scotland and Dublin includes Gaelic translations.

We had quite a hike to the departure gate in Dublin and very little time to do it, in addition to clearing immigration and customs. There was running and sweating involved, and an additional surprise of being selected for additional screening.

What a relief to finally board the plane for segment #2 of our return trip:
the big jump over the pond from Dublin to Chicago.
Our Chicago layover was sufficient to get something to eat and prepare for the last leg back to Tulsa. On Scotland time, it was already bedtime, but we had a few more miles to go.

After just over two weeks away, Tulsa International Airport was a welcome sight.
We are very grateful that we have been able to take this trip. We are greatly enriched by all we have seen and done over the last 15 days. We have a rich store of memories of all the places we've been, sights we've seen and people we have met.

We hope to take more trips to the UK, but for now, we are thankful and happy to be home.

  1. Thank you for keeping up this blog. It's extra work, but so valuable afterwards. Congratulations on your special trip and anniversary. That's funny about an extra security check. I'm sure it's because you look so suspicious. Look forward to seeing you back in church.
